Stars Inside
Within a cave we create stories of stone and light. An installation of lenses will bring sunlight into the cave. This connection will invite observation of a narrative shaped by astral movements unfolding across the surfaces and vessels where humanity’s first harvest came to rest.
STARS INSIDE was initiated in 2024 by visual artist Claudia Mendini and film maker Riccardo Apuzzo to investigate the relationship between celestial movements, time, and place.

Stelle Dentro

ECOtarot @ NAHR
ECOtarot @ NAHR is a continuation and expansion of Jenik’s ongoing socially-engaged art practice where she offers “climate future” readings in public spaces with her ECOtarot deck. During the residency Adriene will be studying critical minerals related to climate disruption as she evolves her interpretations of ECOtarot EARTH cards.
Adriene Jenik is an artist, scholar/activist and end-of-life doula who develops and shares creative systems and processes that support personal introspection, social critique, community building and cultural transformation.

ECOtarot @ NAHR

Solidified Textiles
The project will begin with on site research of locally available materials and will be complemented by photo observation. Through hands-on testing, these materials will be used as filling for sleeves, to create yarns & textile structures at different scales to explore mineral matter through tactile experimentation.
Anne-Kathrin Kühner is a textile designer based in Germany, working across textiles and material research, with an interest in hands-on experimentation, site specific materials and craft traditions. She works in collaborations with universities, and is part of the AC+ collective.

Tessuti Solidificati

Flusso Foliato: Sensing Tectonic Folds and Alpine Forms
Flusso Foliato imagines minerals as sensing and remembering bodies. Metamorphic foliation, the layered alignment of minerals, is approached as a record of movement and geological structure beneath Val Taleggio. Stones and landscape fragments will be suspended within a kinetic mobile sculpture, animated by field recordings and accompanied by a geo-poetic text.
Mae Lubetkin is a transmedia artist, writer, and ocean scientist based in Paris and at sea. Their practice-led research attunes to bodies of water and tectonic folds through queer, anti-extractivist, and decolonial frameworks.

Mineral Maps
Mineral Maps is a site-specific installation and durational performance. The project traces the movement of minerals across land, architecture, bodies, and cultural practices, exploring how life can be understood as a series of non-linear maps shaped by ecological and socio-cultural relationships.
Sophia Riordan works across sculpture, installation, and performance. Using materials like wood, string, and found natural objects, her work explores the connections between human and non-human life.

Mappe Minerali

Calcite as Codec: Mineral Listening and Worlding in Val Taleggio
The central question driving the project is: How can we collaborate with minerals in artistic processes with digital media to tell stories that generate empathy for the landscape? Erin will develop a multimedia performance that explores the tension of geologic time in the age of digital acceleration.
Erin Single is a media artist who creates installations, short films, live performances, and interactive art. She is currently Assistant Professor of Digital Art at Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Georgia.

Light for the Sun: Likeness, Dummy, Dupe
I plan to collect information on the mineral formations of the Santa Ynez valley and create facsimiles out of paper in the studio. The result will be a series of faux rocks, each with a twin that remains undisturbed in nature.
Sonja Schenk is a multi-disciplinary artist from Los Angeles who explores the intersection of humankind and the natural world through transformative processes.
